Located in the Groves section in the north of Port Arthur. Underwood and Ezell opened the 500-car Surf Drive-In August 15, 1947, with iconic family entertainment, Randolph Scott in “Abilene Town". The 1955 edition of Film Catalog gave 5104 Bernhardt Road, Port Arthur as its address (today on the corner of Bernhardt Drive & 32nd Street) and a capacity of 400 cars.
According to The Port Arthur News, other Underwood and Ezell drive-ins were in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Pharr, San Antonio and Waco.
The Surf Drive-In later became part of Jefferson Amusement Co. and closed in 1964 and in 1968 an athletic field was built on the site.
