Located in the south inner city Melbourne district of Prahran. The Empress Theatre was opened in 1920. It was later taken over by Hoyts Theatres who operated it for several decades until they closed it in 1960.
It has since been demolished and a shopping arcade named Chapel Street Bazaar has been built on the site.
