Located beside the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. The Cherry Creek Cinema was opened on February 17, 1967 by General Cinema Corp. with Maurice Chevalier in “Monkey’s, Go Home!”. It was a free-standing building in a sand color. There was a large marquee over the box office and another marquee on the road. The theatre faced west to the open shopping center. There were no steps for patron, not even a curb. There was a large box office and very large lobby. Seating in the single auditorium was provided for 1,800.
The Cherry Creek Cinema played first run movies, sometimes concurrent with its sister theatre the Villa Italia. There were many sneak previews or pre-Hollywood showings such as “All the President’s Men” when Robert Redford spoke before its first showing, and Jack Nicholson appeared in person for “Chinatown”. The Division Manager office was Dennis Mahaney.
The Cherry Creek Cinema was split into a twin on October 22, 1976, and it was taken over by Mann Theatres who operated it until the Cherry Creek 8 opened in the shopping center in 1987 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

MY OFFICE WAS HERE FIRST I REPLACE THE PASSING BILL HASTINGS AS CITY MANAGER OF CO. LATER WAS PROMOTIVE TO DIVISION MANAGER OFFICE HERE UNTIL CINEMA AURORA MOVE THERE MY DIVISION WAS THE LARGEST IN THE COMPANY INCLUDED CO. N.M. NORTH TX. AND AZ.

Building is possibly now a sporting goods store(Boulder Running Company).

I was an usher/ticket and concession sales associate here in the late 1970s….Great time and met a few celebritys while working here..Robert Redford being one….I remember having to change the 2 billboards in high winds, snow, rain, etc…Enjoyed my time there and had a great boss Dennis Mahaney
