Located in Waterford, County Waterford. The Regina Cinema was opened 1st April 1957 with Bing Crosby in “High Society”. It was operated by the Breen Enterprise circuit. It had 1,400 seats and was equipped with a RCA sound system. It had one of the largest screens in Ireland. It remained a single screen cinema until around 1972 when it was twinned and renamed Regina 1 & 2. In 1993 when it was converted into a 5-screen cinema known as the Waterford Cineplex. It was closed in 2008.
It reopened as the Omniplex in early-2016.

The Regina opened on 1 April 1957 with High Society. New photos as the Omniplex posted today.
I remember the Regina having three screens. The biggest one was on the first floor – Regina Palace. Then there was the Pullman on the ground floor with the appropriately-named Mini on the return. Closed in 1993.
Press ads in 1976 for Regina 1 & 2 so already two screens by then.
