Located in the Yorkshire seaside town of Bridlington. It had two entrances, one on The Promenade, another on the Esplanade. Field’s Oriental Lounge was built prior to 1900. It was a mixed use entertainment venue, which by 1912 had been given a Cinematograph Licence and was screening films. In July 1914 it was remodelled to the plans of architects Blackmore & Sykes. The proscenium was 32ft wide and there was a café for patrons to use, which also doubled as a ballroom.
On 20th January 1931 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system and presented Gloria Swanson in “The Trespasser”. It was re-named Lounge Theatre. In the 1940’s it had been re-named Lounge Cinema.
The Lounge Cinema was closed on 28th October 1961 with Ian Carmichael in “Double Bunk” and “Home is the Hero”. Dancing continued in the ballroom, and the cinema auditorium presented wrestling. The ballroom became a discothèque in the mid-1990’s and was last known as Libertys. In 2015 the Promenade part of the building was being renovated. The Esplanade part is in use as an amusement arcade.

Former Lounge Cinema in 2007 – I am led to believe that the auditorium is still intact, but have not been able to verify this.

Still intact and in use again! The auditorium has been incorporated into the Forum complex.
