The Beacon Theatre was opened on 11th August 1937 with “Three Smart Girls”, and “Speed”. The gardens may opened the same night with the same films? The theatre and gardens closed in 1961. The theatre was converted into a supermarket(Stammers), and the gardens became a carpark. Later the theatre became a video library(Video Ezy), chemist(name unknown), Church(name unknown), and a discount supermarket(name unknown). The theatre and gardens shared a bio-box, the bricked-up bio-box hole may still be visable. The video library has moved.

A little bit of the left hand side of the Theatre building has demolished(to make space for units built next door),and the Beacon Theatre sign has been removed from the top of the building(in the middle). Current use of building unknown?
I think it might now have been converted into a medical centre and pharmacy!

National Trust classified on 6/6/1993, and Muncipal Register on 18/9/2000. State Heritage register 3615, but not registered.

The medical centre is called Western Diagnostic. The building also has a pharmacy(Wray Avenue Pharmacy), and a cafe(Cafe on Hampton).
