Located in the South Side Glasgow suburb of Giffnock, at the corner of Fenwick Road and Dalmeny Avenue. The Tudor Cinema was opened in December 1936 by the Crescent Cinema Company chain operated by Bernard Frutin. It was designed by Lennox & McMath in a ‘zig-zag’ Streamline Moderne style, with Tudor style embellishments. The cinema boasted a ballroom and a restaurant, and there was a large car-park directly across Fenwick Road.
Unfortunately, the Tudor Cinema was never a great success, although the ballroom and restaurant did good business. The Tudor Cinema was closed in August 1962. The building was purchased by a group of Jewish businessmen who intended to build a synagogue on the site. However it was demolished and a supermarket was built instead.
