Located in the north Glasgow district of Springburn. The Princes Cinema was built on the site of an earlier Princes Cinema of 1914. It was built for the Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain and was designed in a restrained Art Deco style by architects Charles J. McNair & Henry F. Elder. The Princes Cinema was opened on 8th November 1937 with William Powell and Myrna Loy in “After the Thin Man”.
The Princes Cinema was closed on 27th July 1968 with Robert Vaughn in “The Helicopter Spies” and “The Fastest Guitar Alive” starring Roy Orbison. After standing unused for a year, it was taken over by Star Leisure and re-opened as a bingo club. EMI took over in 1975 and the bingo club closed in 1979 to be demolished in a redevelopment of Gourlay Street.

This was the first cinema i ever visited ,i remember the ABC miners ,Saturday morning pictures , i left Springburn in Nov 1966 to go and live in Easterhouse ,no cinema there no nothing , but the Princess was great i saw many films there . Sadly gone
