Located ‘on the Square’ in the center of Vienna, GA. The Woods Theatre opened with 200 seats around 1928. It was closed in 1934 to be enlarged to 345 seats. It reopened in 1935, and in 1936 it was renamed Vienna Theatre. In 1949 Atlanta based architect Wilfred L. Keel carried out some work on the theatre. It was still operating in 1957.

Demolished?
This watercolor displayed on the City of Vienna’s web site shows the Vienna Theatre to have been in a mid-block location. Most of the block of Union Street opposite the square, including the theater, has been demolished to make way for a large branch of PNC Bank.
