Built in 1910 it opened as Edward’s Picture Palace on 22nd February 1911 with 1,000 seats. It was re-named Tivoli Cinema in 1913. It was severely damaged by a fire in 1924. It was renovated and re-opened. In the 1950’s it began screening ‘Continental’ films and was re-named Tivoli Continental Cinema. After many years screening sometimes ‘racy’ foreign films it was closed on 27th August 1977. It was taken over by the Dundee Health Services Social and Recreational Club. It is now a snooker hall.
