The Deer Lake Drive-In was situated on the east side of PA Route 61 (Centre Turnpike) about a mile from the town of Deer Lake. It opened March 31, 1956 with Bing Crosby in “Anything Goes” & Lloyd Bridges in “Apache Woman”. It operated into the 1990’s. The screen, ticket booth and concession stand were demolished in 1996. The property was not redeveloped for many years, and Google aerial photographs showed the location of the entrance road, concession stand, and the parking rows that once accommodated up to 600 cars. By 2022 a hospital had been built on the site.

I passed this drive-in many times on my way to see my best friend up in Shamokin. Such a shame it has been demolished. He worked there a few times in the 80’s.
I drove up from Reading one summer night to check out this drive-in back in 1981. The facility was pristine and the staff was extremely friendly making it well worth the trip.
Screen Tower and concession stand still visible in 2004 Historic Aerial. Screen Tower still standing in 2008 Historic Aerial, but the concession stand is rubble. Screen Tower gone by 2010 Aerial.
Demolished(oh deer)!!

Opened with “Apache Woman”, and “Anything Goes”.
The Deer Lake Drive-In was open into the 1990’s as I visited at that time to see movies.
Entire property now has a hospital. No trace of the old drive-in remaining.
