This was one of the nicest theaters in its time. Built in 1928 as the Roaxian Theatre with 1,200 seats and equipped with a Wurlitzer 2 manual 6 ranks organ. Closed in 1979, it was converted into a concert venue, known as the Emerald Room, which closed in 2003. The projection booth and balcony are all still intact. Lots of secret rooms in the building.
In 2009, the Baker family who originally owned the Jenny Lee bakery, purchased the building. They plan to reopen it as a performing and cinematic venue. The basement hall is planned to be used for special occasions and banquets.
Work on restoration began in November 2009. In June 2014 work began on the restoration of the façade. The theatre reopened on May 10, 2019.

Great news. The McKees Rocks borough council has approved to submit an grant application to the PA Department of Community and Economic Development for $500,000 towards the restoration of the Roxian Theater.
