Paramount Theatre - Lake Charles, LA

The Paramount Theatre was opened on May 2, 1917. The theater was remodeled in 1920, reopening on September 21 of that year. Seating was listed at 600. It was initially operated by Saenger Amusements, later by Southern Amusements. The theatre was closed by the mid to late-1970’s and has since been demolished. The site is now a parking lot.

Any additional information on the Paramount Theatre would be appreciated.

According to this list, architect John M. Gabriel designed alterations of the Paramount Theatre at Lake Charles for the Southern Amusement Company in 1950 and 1951.

The Paramount theatre opened on May 2nd, 1917. Grand opening ad posted.
