News About This Theater
- May 27, 2014 — Few cinemas for Bronx residents
Located a few blocks east of Yankee Stadium, the Concourse Plaza Multiplex Cinemas was opened on June 28, 1991. As of late-September, 2013, this is one of only two operating movie theatres in the Bronx. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Showcase Cinemas declared the closure permanent in February 2021. However, it was reopened by Showcase Cinemas on June 25, 2021. It was closed on May 28, 2024.

Please update, OPEN, Showcase Cinemas just reopened the complex. It was the last NYC Metro Area theatre to open by the chain.
I first came to this theater in June of 1992 I remember seeing Boomerang with my girlfriend then later on I saw Thelma Got Her Groove Back, Titanic, Ray ETC.
I haven’t been there for along time I gotta take my cousins to this movie theater more often
please update, this theatre closed as of May 28, 2024. Only AMC controls the 1 theater in the Bronx
That’s the 4th theatre in NYC that Showcase closes this year and the last Showcase in the city.
Here is a news story about the upcoming closure, can’t believe there will be only one movie theatre left in the entire Borough of the Bronx. http://bronx.news12.com/multiplex-cinemas-in-concourse-plaza-set-to-close-next-month
I am going to miss going to the concorse Plaza Multiplex once the theaters close by May 28th and I used to go there A lot during my teenage years
This should be marked as closed now. Sadly, National Amusements has decided to give up on its multiplexes across Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx.
