Opened on May 21, 1969 as the Fairview Theatre, a single screen theatre that could accommodate 500 patrons. The opening movie was Peter O'Toole in “The Lion in Winter”. On June 12, 1980 two additional 200 seat auditoriums were added and it became the Fair Vu Cinema 1-2-3. It was adjacent to the Fair Vu Drive-In. It was initially operated by Commonwealth Theatres followed by United Artists. UA wanted out of the Boise market and tried to divest itself of the property. Both theatres were closed in 1995. UA finally sold both properties to Smith’s Food King who planned to build a warehouse where the theatres once stood. They cleared the land and a large concrete slab was poured but Smith’s was bought out by Meyers who wasn’t interested in a warehouse in Boise so approximately five years later the property was bought by a car dealership.

2nd and 3rd screen opened on June 12th, 1980. Another ad posted.
