Built as a vaudeville house and opened August 18, 1912. It was designed by the architectural firm of Harley & Atcheson seating around 650. The Globe Theatre was operated by United Amusements. By the time it was remodeled in 1915 by C. Howard Crane (and enlarged to seat just over 850), the Globe Theatre switched over to motion pictures.
It was located very close to the old Tiger Stadium, and was in operation through the 1970’s.
The Globe Theatre was demolished long ago.

Wish I had photos. I used to live in the Jeffries Projects right near there. Went there many times as a kid. There was a furniture store and a music store that sold Gibson guitars on the same block. Ironically enough, the street intersection was Grandriver and Gibson.
