The Cinema Detroit relocated from its 3420 Cass Avenue address to this 3rd Avenue building (a former furniture factory) in the summer of 2015. It had closed by April 2025.

The 3rd Avenue location of Cinema Detroit is still open. The Midtown neighborhood, adjacent to Wayne State University, is one of the most rapidly regenerating areas in Detroit.
This cinema has two screens, one seating approx 20 (called the screening room) and Theater 1 which holds about 100. The theater shows first-run films and rents out for events as well.
