The Merrimac Drive-In was opened May 26, 1950 with Mark Stevens in “Oh, You Beautiful Doll” & Gene Autry in “The Big Sombrero”. It was operated by J.E. Bronstein. By 1955 it had been renamed Nashua Drive-In and was operated by J.E. Bronstein & Daytz Theatre Enterprises Corp. of Boston, MA. It was still open in 1978.

The Merrimack Drive-In Theater launched May 26, 1950 with “Oh You Beautiful Doll” and “The Big Sombrero.“ The theater was launched as an independent operated by business partners Morris LIffman, Joseph Bronstein, and Sidney & Henry Kessler. After just one season, the Graphic Theaters Circuit took on the Merrimack on April 19, 1951 they opened for the season under the name Nashua Drive-In Theater which it held until its closing.

I took a stroll around the lot today and, other than the shape of the clearing, there is no evidence of the drive-in. I looked in case there was a foundation or slab left behind from the snack bar building, but nothing.

I guess the Nashua stayed open through at least the 1978 season.

Boxoffice, Oct. 9, 1978: “Five cinemas participated in a large-scale newspaper ad campaign … Concord Drive-In, Concord; Bedford Grove Drive-In, Manchester; Nashua Drive-In, Nashua; Seacoast Cinema, North Hampton; and Plaistow Drive-In, Plaistow.
