Old Man Rant incoming… I have seen 3 films here since they reopened as an AMC in Auditoriums #3 #7 and #9. Every time I go, (thankfully to mostly empty matinee showings) it is just so depressing because this location could be one of the best AMC’s or even one of the best theaters in LA if they put some money into it. Theaters 1,2,3,9 and 10 all have large screens and I think there are entrances at the top of the theater for handicapped seating for #3 and #9.

The large #3 and #9 houses both have 60 foot screens, larger than all the IMAX and PLF screens in the Valley other than Burbank AMC and Universal. However, the seats are a mess and many are broken. If you go here, ensure it is not close to sold out, or you might end up with a seat that tilts, is ripped or missing a cushion. I had to move seats a few times till i found one that was not trying to hurt me. I still walked out limping. The sound and projection are actually ok. If only they would replace those seats. Surprised to see the masking still working though.

I just saw what Regal did to the old Arclight in Sherman Oaks (amazing btw), I now wish they took over this theater as well.

Looking at photos online I never realized how similarly designed this is to the larger Reading Valley Plaza in Bakersfield, also originally designed by Pacific.

This is now open and from what I can tell, it seems they really did not do anything in terms of a remodel here. They even kept the same 25 year old crappy seats and the old carpet. They did nothing to update this theater which has the potential to be a wonderful location.

There is no large format, no laser and no recliners. I will head over this week to see if they added new screens, projectors and speakers.

This will be the AMC Northridge 10. It appears the opening date is July 15th with Thor LAT. The website is up on AMC. Per Google, there are a few images of the new remodel, including one of the auditoriums that have new seats! Not sure if they will get a Dolby or an IMAX, but they did have 2 large theaters with 60 foot screens, so hopefully its going to get a premium screen at some point.

Does anyone know when this theater is going to open or if it will? Maybe they will not open it with the opening of the new Topanga Theater?
