Located in Matlock, Derbyshire. The Cinema House was opened at the end of 1922. It was built as a cine-variety theatre and had a 22 feet deep stage behind a 25 feet wide proscenium. There were seven dressing rooms. There was also a cafe for the convenience of its patrons.
Around 1955 the Cinema House had been taken over by Northern Cinemas and re-named Ritz Cinema. The Leeds based Star Cinemas chain and taken over by 1958. They operated it until the late-1970’s. Taken over by an independent operator the Ritz Cinema was twinned with seating in the screens provide for 176 and 96. The Ritz Cinema was closed on 24th June 1999.
It is now a restaurant named Maazi.
