They say Augusta is the ‘Buckle of the Bible Belt’, hence the Gospel Drive-In was owned for a short time by David Brinkman. This 120-car capacity drive-in showed only religious films and operated in the mid-1950’s.
Lasting only a few years, it was located not far from the Skyview Drive-In. According to folks, even while watching the films someone was at your car trying to hand you a religious tract, no box office was built, during intermission and often during the show a bucket would passed around for the “offering”..and I thought I had every Augusta Theatre on Cinema Treasures.

Hope to find out if they used 16mm or 35mm, i am betting 16mm,hope to find out from a few locals that actually visited this Drive-in.
Checked with one person that knew,it was a 16mm set-up,didn’t have a lot of that for drive-ins i bet.
IN easy walking Distance of the huge SKYVIEW DRIVE-in.
The Number One drive-in and Skyview Drive-in were also close to this Drive-in,I think it opened during the craze, and once the church crowds left,it closed.traces of all three drive -ins are there if you look, had a friend that even found some old carbon arc rods thrown out in the back.
Thanks for the interesting find Mike! There was also one of these drive-ins in Pinellas Park, FL called Drive-In Cinema that showed only religious films. I had a chance to visit the lot just before the theatre closed a few years back. The booth was equipped with both 16mm and 35mm. Not sure of capacity but it was fairly small. Go to Drive-In Cinema in Pinellas Park to see a YouTube video of the drive-in by posted by FloridaDriveIns.
