Famous Players opened this theatre on November 27, 1996 as the Famous Players 8. In June of 2004 Empire Theatres took over operations and renamed it Empire 8 Trinity Drive.

Seating for the complex is listed at 2,035 with the smallest auditorium seating 190 and the largest 364. The theatre features first run attractions, stadium seating, Dolby Digital, automated box offices, Digital projection, Digital 3D and Reel Deal Discount Tuesdays. It was taken over by Cineplex Entertainment in 2013.

This cinema is initially a clone of Famous Players Burlington 8 (now SilverCity Burlington) which opened the same year.

There was “Famous Players 8” in Greenfield Park and Pointe Claire in the Montreal area and one in Pickering. Different design.

Opened November 27th, 1996. Opened with “101 Dalmatians”, “Star Trek: First Contact”, “Space Jam”, “Ramson” and in French: “L' Homme Ideal”, “Les 101 Dalmatiens”. Grand opening ad posted.

This was the last Famous Players theatre to be built east of Quebec.
