Located on the 3rd floor of the Eaton Centre. Opened as the Eaton Centre 9 by Cineplex Odeon on July 28, 1988, originally with 3,400-seats. The two largest screens were equipped with YHX sound and had 70mm capabilities. The theatre has 9 screens with the smallest seating 214 and the largest 654 with a total of 3,078. On January 19, 2002 it was re-named Edmonton City Centre 9 Cinemas when the mall name was changed. Ownership changed to Empire Theatres on September 30, 2005. Operates on a first run basis. It was sold to Landmark on November 22, 2013 and they were taken over by the Belgium based Kinepolis chain in September 2017.

This opened on July 29th, 1988 as the largest cinema in Canada. It was renamed City Centre in 2001. Owners were Cineplex Odeon in 1988, Empire Theatres in 2005, Landmark Theatres in 2013 and Kinepolis in 2017 (Keeping the Landmark brand name in Canada). “Cineplex Odeon’s Eaton Place Cinema opens on July 28, 1988. Located at Eaton Centre, 3rd Floor, Phase II, 101st Street and 102 Avenue in Edmonton. With nine screens and a seating capacity of 3,400 seats, making it the largest complex of it’s kind in Canada. Lucasfilm THX Sound Systems with 70MM projection capabilities are featured in two of the largest houses. "Midnight Run”, “Die Hard” in 70 MM, “Big”, “Monkey Shines”, “License to Drive”, “The Great Outdoors”, “Lady in White” and “Bull Durham” are the opening features. January 19, 2002, theatre changes name to Edmonton City Centre, due to mall’s name change. Ownership change to Empire Theatres on September 30, 2005. Ownership change to Landmark Cinemas on November 22, 2013. Theatre is still open and showing movies."
I’ve only seen 3 movies here: Sing, Uncharted, and The Fabelmans. I’d like to see more here in the future as I love the aesthetic of this theatre, but ever since Park Indigo took over the City Centre parking the prices have been ridiculous…
