The Plaza Theatre was opened June 10, 1964 by the RKO Stanley-Warner Co., shortly after the merger of RKO Theatres and the Stanley Warner Company.
In 1977/1978, RKO Stanley Warner sold the Plaza Theatre to The Sameric Co. In 1982/1983 the Plaza Theatre was Twinned.
In 1988, The Sameric Co. was sold to United Artists Theatres. In 1994, 4 smaller screens were added to The Moorestown Plaza, making it into a sixplex.
In 2002, United Artists, Regal Cinemas, and Edwards Theatres were merged into Regal Entertainment Group.
In December 2011, the Moorestown Mall announced it would build a 12-screen stadium seated, all digital movie theatre, which opened on December 12, 2013, and is operated by Regal Entertainment. The new cinema will replace this UA Moorestown Mall 7, which was closed in 2012.

Does anyone remember in the lobby there were framed collage artworks done by a local artist using primarily newspaper movie ad clippings? There was a very nice one focused on horror films but it was priced at $60 and I was 11-13 at the time so I couldn’t afford it myself and there was no way my folks were going to pay that much for a bunch of newspaper clippings.
