July 14th, 1995 grand opening ad in photo section
This opened on June 10th, 1964. Its grand opening ad with pictures can be found in the photo section.
I summitted a new page for the Regal Cinemas Moorestown Mall Stadium 12 & RPX Theatre
Finally!
The Regal Moorestown Mall Stadium 12 & RPX officially opens December 12
What I’ve heard, is the REG United Artists (Sameric/RKO Stanley Warner) Moorestown 7 is now closed so they can start building the new REG Regal Moorestown Stadium 12 Theatre
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and STAR TREK II come to mind.
Does anyone remember in the lobby there were framed collage artworks done by a local artist using primarily newspaper movie ad clippings? There was a very nice one focused on horror films but it was priced at $60 and I was 11-13 at the time so I couldn’t afford it myself and there was no way my folks were going to pay that much for a bunch of newspaper clippings.
with the atco multiplex out of buisness cause the ritz and with larger booming theaters like burlington and cherry hill how mlong before the moorestown 7 and marlton 8 get shut down
Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Legal Eagles, Stand By Me, Field of Dreams, The Abyss, A League of Their Own, Sleeping with the Enemy, Lord of the Flies, The Cutting Edge, War of the Roses, Point Break, Benji The Hunted, Ghost, The Big Easy, The Running Man, For Keeps, Baby Boom, Hannah and Her Sisters, later Liar Liar, Beavis & Butthead, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, A Very Brady Sequel…Jaws 4 and Howard the Duck played here too…
REG Moorestown 7 Theatre was opened by Pacific Theatres' RKO Stanley Warner Theatres division when the Moorestown Mall opened.
I’m pretty sure this was open before 1966—I remember my mother taking me here to see Mary Poppins first-run before that (incredibly long box-office line, we almost get to the front—SOLD OUT! They sold us tickets for the next show, we went home and came back).
well regal tends to go lower brow when it comes to there films, moorestown now is all kids films and loud action or comedies not a whole bunch of art in my 6 years there, you go to the ritz for substance
Mouse problem? I remember when this was the classier option compared with the Pennsauken and Cherry Hill Erics. It was the Twin PLAZA Moorestown. No horror or B-flicks here, no – they would get the more highbrow mainstream releases like Woody Allen movies.
i was a manager at this theater for 6 years after regal took over in 2002 they went about making many repairs but the building suffers from a serious mouse problem and the roof has about as many holes as a piece of swiss cheese
I saw many a movie here as was a bribe from my Grandmother to have patience with her while she shopped in the Pathmark across the hall inside the mall. Who remembers the Pathmark? And the Harvest Grill at Woolworth’s?
I dropped into this “plex” sometime before the fire. After seeing whatever it was I had come to see, I took a tour of the other auditoriums. Every screen seemed to be of the “common width” variety, so I left, never to return.

It was after the fire at Moorestown Mall when UA renovated the former RKO Stanley Warner-RKO Century Warner-Eric Plaza Moorestown Twin into a 7-plex. I don’t think the original interior survived the renovations.
I remember going to the Moorestown theatre when it was the Eric Twin Plaza Moorestown. The two theatres were equal in size, and had an orchestra and a balcony section. Now that its a multiplex, are the two original theatres still intact?
You are correct, feverDog, the REG Moorestown Theatre has 7 screens.
as i rememered the seat count for cinema 1 is 434 and each theater got smaller , theater 5,6, and 7 are 167
A six plex? I think it’s now seven screens, but they’re so small and nondescript that one is better off going to that new plex down Route 38 across from the Cherry Hill Mall. The last movie I saw there (“The People Vs. Larry Flynt”) was in a house that couldn’t have held more than a hundred seats. Blech.
Not that the old two-screen layout was much better. The balcony for some reason was always closed, and the sound system was awful. (Every time I see “The Abyss” I’m reminded of when the speakers in the theatre sounded like they were going to break in pieces when the soundtrack emitted low rumbles.)
