The Mall Cinema 5 began like so many theatres as a twin theatre. Located at Hatcher Point in the Mall, it was a Georgia Theatre, then United Artists took over only to have Georgia Theatres to take it back. A brief time in the summer of 1986 it was called The Movies.
It expanded during the current ownership of Georgia Theatres.
