The Movieland Theatre is one of the more obscure St. Petersburg theatres due to its location and history. Located on what was then the Dixie Highway, the Movieland Theatre opened sometime in 1926 and was patronized by the Northern tourists that spent the winter at a nearby campground. Since the theater was (and still is) outside St. Pete city limits, it was able to secure first-run releases normally reserved for the bigger theaters downtown. An article in the St. Petersburg Times described the theater as being, "unpretentious but it offers protection from the weather and there is a fair stage with the appropriate hangings and the usual settings."

In addition to movies, the Movieland offered burlesque shows. The Movieland Theatre closed its doors in 1927 and the building has since disappeared.
