News About This Theater

The Pinellas Square Cinema I-II-III, located in the Pinellas Square Mall, was opened May 27, 1977. It was initially built and operated by General Cinema. The debut bookings were "Day of the Animals", "The Sting" and "Smokey and the Bandit".

The longest-running, most-successful booking during the theater’s life was "Star Wars", which played a 53-week engagement in 1977-78. This was the longest run of the film in Florida and the second-longest in the South.

It was taken over by Cobb Theatres in 1991. The theater was a discount house during the latter years of its life.
