All Showplace ICON locations are now closed:

IndieWire’s take on the Kerasotes/Showplace Icon implosion:

Apparently, it’s not just the Roosevelt Commons location that’s getting shut down. The entire Kerasotes chain is gone now.
And IMHO, while the shooting and other recent incidents at the Roosevelt Commons didn’t help matters, their closing can’t be blamed solely on the misbehavior of its patrons. The entire Kerasotes chain must have been in dire straits for quite a while in order to implode like this.
Final date: June 30, 2024… likely at the lease opt out at the 15-year mark.
Wow, here’s a novel idea

On April 8, 2023, two people were taken into custody after shots were fired inside the ICON right after a fight.
Please update, total seats 1729
All seating is now recliners. Too bad.
My wife and I recently had dinner at the LoBBY LOUNGE before seeing ashow here. The food is good and not overpriced. Plus you can eat and drink here even if you’re not seeing a movie.
Technically, it’s run by Kerasotes ShowPlace Icon Theatres formerly operated by Kerasotes Theatres
question: is the Icon-X screen the only auditorium that features Dolby Atmos sound or there additional auditoriums that also feature the sound format?
The interior of the Showplace ICON was designed by the Temecula, California firm STK Architecture, Inc. (formerly STK Architects.) Photos can be seen on the company’s web site. As the theater is part of a large, mixed-use project, the structure itself was apparently designed by one of the other firms involved.
My wife and I went here to see “Sherlock Holmes”. A few things:
1) It’s not bad, but the size of this place makes it overwhelming. It sprawls and it’s very spread out.
2) The parking lot is very confusing. It’s probably the way they had to build it.
Wow. Welcome news for downtown.
It’s a shame a new building had to be built though, when we had all those beautiful theaters sitting there vacant as recent as 25-30 years ago.
Maybe this facility could display some sort of tribute/photo gallery of what the old downtown theaters looked like back in their heyday.
Kerasotes made a new website for its ICON-branded theatre
