The Yank Theatre opened in 1944 with seating listed at 435. The theatre was located a block west of the former Iris Theatre and closed in the mid-1950’s. It was later operated as an adult movie theatre named Studio IV which closed in 1973. The building went into retail use, and by 2010, was operating as a bar. By 2016 it was operating as a dance club named New York, New York.

The 1970 Presidential report on Pornography lists a Studio Theatre at 222 E 6th as being a theatre that ran adult films. I’ll leave it to everyone else to comment why they changed the name from “Yank.”

Operated as a first run Spanish language cinema in the late sixties.
