Regal Town Center Stadium 16

Opened on May 23, 1986, one of the last cinemas opened under the Storey Theatre’s banner, the Town 8 Theatre was top of the line in every detail; decorative auditoria each equipped with state of the art projection and sound, tear-drop curtains in the 70mm auditorium and vertical in the 35mm venues which opened at the beginning of the feature presentation and closed after the last credit rolled.

In 1999 when Regal acquired the cinema it was expanded to 16 screens, each with stadium seating, and the main entrance was moved to the west end of the multiplex. It reopened November 19, 1999. Part of the original interior of the 70mm auditorium has been moved into the main auditorium of the new wing. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A while later it briefly reopened, but closed on September 27, 2020. It was announced in October 2020 that the closure would be permanent.

My wife and I saw The Lighthouse the evening of October 25, 2019. I added some pictures from the lobby. I would have gotten our auditorium, but it was too dark for pictures… even with the “Noovie” playing!

I think this was the last operating facility of the old Storey chain.

The theater did reopen right after the March 2020 shutdown, but closed for the final time on September 27 of that year. As of August 2025, the theater still stands abandoned.
