As I thought, the wrong video was attached to the original post. There is one for the theater on this page and it is much better. Not professionally made of course but just a walk through with an iPhone 16 running the whole time. Still, 99% of the visuals are of what is left of the theater and the incredible amount of vandalism. Plenty of light via the many holes in the roof allowing direct daylight.
Place will soon be demolished if it is not already and according to the write up 350 apartments will be built on the site. I never attended a movie here. It is somewhat notable as the last one of the Storey Theater chain in operation when it closed in 2020 although it had been remodeled and expanded beyond all recognition from the original 8.
Agreed. I am not of so called “talking heads” videos.
This is not a very good video. It has a total of about five minutes of interesting shots of the lobby, auditoriums, booth, and bathroom. The other 30 minutes is closeups of the people making the video, their commentary, with very little visible in the background. Their comments, such as their assumption that the roaches were there only because the theater was closed, indicate that they never worked in an operating theater.
It is too bad that they did not show more of the theater and less of themselves. The theater is still mostly intact with little damage visible and no vandalism. The means that this is NOT a video on the Regal Town Center because aside from the screen count being wrong, the Town Center has been very heavily vandalized. Apparently they did visit the Town Center because their FB page has some pictures of the actual Town Center 16. Maybe somewhere along the line the wrong video got attached.
A picture of the old Storey Town Center 8 / Regal 16 in its current decrepit state is posted in the photos. I’m surprised the current owners don’t put this place out of its misery if for no other reason than reducing their property tax bill. It is also surprising that the local government doesn’t require its demolition as it will obviously never be used for anything again and in its current state is a public nuisance.

36+ minute YouTube tour video of the vacant theater in January 2025. 13 photos in Facebook link below that.

This theatre’s physical condition has deteriorated very quickly: https://youtu.be/nmM-SrxNdag
If there are any CT readers with an emotional attachment to this location, and I doubt there are, you might want to plan a visit to take a last look as a developer is requesting rezoning. No word on the actual plan but the zoning requested would allow for the construction of one of those Live, Work, Play developments that are so popular now. The signs are posted around the pie shaped area between the mall ring road, I-575, and the commercial development to the north so the mall proper is not involved unless perhaps it’s current zoning already allows for such.
Picture added to the photo section.
I think this was the last operating facility of the old Storey chain.

My wife and I saw The Lighthouse the evening of October 25, 2019. I added some pictures from the lobby. I would have gotten our auditorium, but it was too dark for pictures… even with the “Noovie” playing!
The Regal 22 at Austell and the Town Center 16 both opened on November 19th, 1999.
12 screens on December 20th, 1991. another ad posted.
Worked from 1986-1989. I actually worked here BEFORE it opened (early 1986). I moved up from the south side of town (Jonesboro) to work here. Worked at National 6 in College Park previously. I was a projectionist, then Manager. Good times!
I miss Storey Theaters…
This is opened by Storey Theatres on May 23rd, 1986 with eight screens. I have posted an grand opening ad with picture in the photo section for this theatre.
