The Allen Theatre was opened on December 30, 1918 with Lilian Gish in “Hearts of the World”. On October 13, 1923 it was renamed Metropolitan Theatre, operated by Paramount Pictures. It was closed on November 28, 1981 with a triple-bill program of X-Rated cartoons “Fritz the Cat”, “The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat” & “Heavy Traffic”. The building was ‘For Sale’ in 1987 and was demolished.

The Metropolitan was at 11 Avenue and Broad Street. The street signs can be seen in the second of the three photos kenmcintyre linked to in the first comment. The theater has been demolished, along with the multi-storey building adjacent to it on 11 Avenue. The adjacent building on Broad Street is still there, housing a shop called Love Plus, for which the Internet gives an address of 1810 Broad Street. Perhaps there was a renumbering at some point, but the current address of the Metropolitan’s site must be 1800 Broad Street… although by the time the photos Ken linked to were taken, the entrance had been confined to the 11 Avenue side of the building.
The Metropolitan went dark on November 29, 1981 after a final triple-bill of Ralph Bakshi animated features, “Fritz the Cat”, “The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat” and “Heavy Traffic”. Here’s the ad for the final Metropolitan show from the Regina Leader-Post.
It had a very large Hill-Greene Lane organ that parts of are in a Anglican church in Saskatoon
