The Skyway Drive-In opened in late-1950. In 1952 it became the Highway 13 Drive-In. In 1953 it was renamed Hi-Way Drive-In. It was located at northeast intersection of Lexington Road and E. 76th Street, to the south of Henrietta and was operated by Frank Weary Jr. It was closed in the mid-1980’s as the 13 Bowl Drive-In. Capacity was for 300 cars.

Oh i see!! Why the word bowl in the name then?
Because the bowling alley building was on the same property as as the drive-in. As you turned off from the hi-way onto the drive-in theater property the bowling alley was on the right hand side across from the boxoffice.
I think what we have is a failure to communicate. There are 2 sites listed for the drive-in with BOWL in the one I am now which evidently contains information only to the BOWLING building. But it sort of appears like it is for drive-in theater information. It is confusing to me how it is set up.
Is the bowling alley still there?
I don’t know for sure. I haven’t been back there since the early 80’s. I now live in Hollywood Ca but keep in touch with a friend who now lives in Kansas City Mo. He worked in the concession stand at the theater. Will touch base with you after I talk to him. I heard that that the drive-in property had been turned back into farming land as it was when the theater was built.
Are the very faint ramps gone too?
Sorry to be so long in getting back to you but I finally made contact with my friend who used to work at the drive-in and he said all land that the drive-in and bowling building had been turned back to farming land as it was before the drive-in was built.
A more accurate address for this theater is 7633 Lexington Rd, Henrietta, MO 64036. This points directly to the drive in itself. There is no trace except the outline.
Please update.
There’s a nice 1981 plane’s-eye view of the Hi Way 13 Drive-In at Vintage Aerial.
The Skyway Drive-In opened late in 1950. It reopened for the 1952 season as the Highway 13 Drive-In Theatre with “Dakota Lil” and “Ghost Chasers.” It was renamed as the Hi-Way 13 Drive-In during its next season.
