Regal Augusta Village Cinema 12

This theater first opened prior to 1992. It was very futuristic looking with it’s glowing spaceship like lights in front of the theater and the silver tunnel like ceiling with glowing green lights.

It used to be packed until the Regal Augusta Exchange 20 opened a few miles away, four years later. In 2002, it switched from first run to second run, at first showing shows for $2.00, later $2.25, and finally $2.50.

The theater closed in 2006, leaving my friends and I very sad, for that was where we hung out all the time. As a matter of fact, we didn’t even know the theater had closed until we drove past it one day and saw construction people taking the sign down. I really hope that one day someone decides to open it up again, but I think that’s probably going to be unlikely.

I was wondering if you have a contact number for the property owners? I have a business venture they may be interested in.

I drove right by this several times without realizing it was there. I was hoping to find a theater with the old changeover system still operational, but it seems there are none in this area. I was the projectionist for one in WV in 1987.

I really thought this theater was demolished, but the latest Google Maps information makes it appear to still be nested there between the other businesses.

kpkiiburn2: This was definitely a platter location either way. Not to stray too far off topic 3 years later, but the Miller Theater restoration and Imperial Theater restoration both maintain the changeover booths in the back, but I don’t believe there is any equipment in either. Both locations just use a commercial projector like you’d use at a conference center or such when showing movies.
