Built before World War I, the Pathe Palace staged various kinds of shows and also cinema use. It was re-named Cameo in 1925 and became a full time cinema, with seating for 600. On 19th October 1928, the first sound film "l;eua de Nil" was screened at the Cameo, using the Gaumont Cinephone process.
The Cameo was bought by UGC in the 1970’s and was made into 4-screens. Two screens were in made out of the fomer Cameo, and another two small screens were made out of an adjacent restaurant. The UGC Opera was renovated in 1991 and the four screens were given a modern black and grey decoration. Seating in the largest screen is provided for 320, while the other screens seat 180, 80 and 80. The UGC Opera tends to play first run films, dubbed into French.
