Small theatre located on W. State Street at Porter Way. The theatre was located just a block east of the larger Columbia Theatre. The Nuluna Theatre was operating prior to 1941 and in the 1950 edition of Film Daily Yearbook, the address is given as 24 W. State Street. In the early-1980’s it was vacant, and it has since been demolished.
Any further info on the Nuluna Theatre would be appreciated.

I wonder if the Nuluna Theatre was a replacement for, or a remodeling of, the Luna Theatre, two photos of which appeared in the January, 1912, issue of the trade journal The Ohio Architect, Engineer and Builder?
The issue featured a portfolio of the works of Sharon architect E.E. Clepper, and in addition to the Luna photos there were photos of two other Sharon theaters he had designed. There was one photo of the Alpha Theatre, a house that featured Keith vaudeville, and two photos of the Thomas Theatre, one exterior shot and two interior views.
At this time, neither the Alpha nor the Thomas is listed on Cinema Treasures. The trade journal article has no information about any of the three theaters.
Luna to Nuluna (chic for “New Luna”)? I think you might have something there Joe. I wonder if the street address for both can be cross referenced?
Exactly right on the Nuluna replacing the old Luna Theatre, Joe. I worked as an usher in the Nuluna in the late forties. It was a small theatre with only two aisles, seated about 200 and the only significant item was that the restrooms were located under the sidewalk in front of the theatre and had glass blocks on the ceilings to allow light in. This was really unique. The theatre was located next to a four story department store named “THE SHARON STORE” which in later years became a branch of Strouss-Hirshbergs of Youngstown,Ohio. The Luna Theatre’s auditorium originally featured a center aisle, as seen in the photo I linked to in my previous comment, so it must have been reconfigured at some point. The facade was certainly altered from Edgar E. Clepper’s original ornate design, though the five windows on the upper floor in the more recent photo are placed and sized exactly as they were in the 1912 photo. The facade and auditorium were probably remodeled at the same time, and that was probably when the name was changed to Nuluna Theatre.
