Kino Capitol

The Elektrische Lichtbuhne was opened as a variety theatre in 1909. It was renamed Central Theater in 1914. Kino Capitol opened 30th December 1926 with 1,000 seats in its single auditorium which has a balcony with side-slips extending to the proscenium. It was equipped with a Welt theatre pipe organ. In 1929 it was the first cinema in Switzerland to be equipped for sound films, the first being Al Jolson in “The Singing Fool”.

In 1984 it was sub-divided into a 5-screen cinema, in 2009 operating with 6-screens. Seating is provided for 339, 61, 55, 77, 96 and 229.
