Kino Rex

The Rex was considered one of the best theatres in Switzerland. It opened on 5th October 1935 and had seating located in orchestra and balcony. The decor and style was in the Art Moderne style designed by Zurich architect Otto Streicher. Particular emphasis was placed on the comfortable seating in the cinema.

It closed in 1975. A search on the internet today showed a branch of Morgan Stanley Bank at the address of the Kino Rex, and by 2017 it is a H&M store

The Rex now hosts an H&M store. Here’s a pic of the outside of the Rex in its glory days: https://www.nzz.ch/zuerich/aktuell/bildstrecke/lebenswerk-des-architekten-otto-streicher-kinos-epa-und-arbeiterpalaeste-ld.155798#lg=1&slide=0
