This small independently owned and operated theatre was opened on March 30, 1972 with Barry Newman in “Vanishing Point”. It was originally a single screen house which had an additional auditorium and second screen added on September 4, 1980. A local bank took over the building shortly after it closed in the 1990’s and used it for employee training.
I remember going to the owner of the old Avalon Theatre that had closed in Pass Christian to see about buying its booth equipment. I was told it had already been sold to the owner of the Springs Cinema and all they had left for sale were the seats. The Springs Cinema opened shortly afterwards. The Springs Cinema was a very nice and well maintained theatre that its owner took pride in. It had been demolished by 2024.

I flew my fake drone (Google Earth) and found the Springs Cinema. It was behind the Merchants & Marine Bank on Bienville Boulevard near Bristol.

It’s now used as storage for Ocean Springs School District.

When I went by this one last week to get a picture, I found an empty lot. Please change status to demolished.
