One of Charlotte’s nine drive-ins, the Trift Road Drive-In was located at 109 Lakewood Avenue, in the Thrift district. It was opened on June 23, 1950 with Roy Rogers in “Nightime in Nevada” & Maria Montez in “White Savage”. It was operated by C.H. Faw. On April 22, 1962 it was renamed West 16 Drive-In. It was closed in 1969.
