Regent Cinema

Opened 30th July 1928 with 2,014 seats in stalls and balcony and a Wurlitzer 2Manual/8Rank organ opened by Frank Matthews. It also had full stage facilities and a cafĂ©. Opening attraction was “The Magic Flame” starring Ronald Colman and Vilma Banky. Built for Provincial Cinematograph Theatres(PCT), construction took two years and it was taken over by Gaumont British Theatres in the early-1930’s. It was considered one of the best cinemas in Bristol at that time.

The building was destroyed by German bombs on 24th November 1940 and what was left was finally demolished in 1963.
