Built in 1910 and designed as a Methodist Chapel by architects Latrose & Weston, it is a Grade II* Listed building. It is located on Lee Road, next to the Town Hall in Lynton.
The chapel was closed in 1999 and it was purchased by the local District Council for use as an arts centre. An area at the rear, known as the church hall was chosen to be converted into a cinema.
The Picture Palace opened on 30th May 2001 with "Bridget Jones Diary", and screens mainstream and art house films, now known as the Lynton Cinema.
