The South Gate Drive-In was opened on March 14, 1950. It was located at Firestone Boulevard at Atlantic Avenue, and was operated by Berman Theatres, followed by Alladin Theatres and from 1956 by Pacific Theatres. It was closed in 1979 screening regular movies. From November 4, 1979 it went over to screening Spanish language movies.

It was a rather large Drive-in parking 850 cars and the SOUTH GATE DRIVE-In was owned by ALADDIN DRIVE-IN THEATRE INC. All this in 1956.

I graduated from South Gate High in 1954. I took my girlfriend to the drive in in 1952, in my 1938 Chey coupe. I only went there a few times because she became an usher at the Vogue, and I was always let in for free when she was working. Fond memories of South Gate. I new was torn down in the 80’s, but I don’t remember what year.
