A photo of the Carolina Theater from 1949 here and one from 1950 here.
Looks like the entire block of 200 S. Main St is the railroad depot now. The street no longer exists, so this is demolished, if the address is correct.
Uploaded early photo showing the entire facade. Incidentally, Stevenson Theaters was an early operator of the theater, probably from the beginning, since Stevenson Theaters was incorporated in 1925.
The January 1, 1927 issue of Moving Picture World had this announcement about the new Stevenson Theatres house to be built at Burlington: “BURLINGTON, N. C.—Stevenson Theatres. Inc., S. S. Stevenson, Carolina Theatre has awarded contract for theatre and office building, 59 by 167 feet. Theatre will have seating capacity 700 in main auditorium and 1,000 in balconies. Estimated cost, $150,000.”
Once operated by North Carolina Theatres.
