This opened on August 25th (not 31st), 1984 with four screens and expanded to six screens on July 2nd, 1986. It closed down in 2007. Grand opening ads in the photo section.
It closed as the Bargain Box Office on June 14, 2007 with “Delta Farce, “Blades of Glory,” “Wild Hogs,” “Disturbia,” and “Are We Done Yet?” On the latter, the theatre operator said, “yes.” After closing it served as a place of worship for the Vineyard Chillicothe Church. In 2015, the floor was leveled and became the Adena Health System.
Taken over by DanBarry Cinemas in September 1992, and was renamed “DanBarry Cinemas Chillicothe”. It was also the first ever theater to be operated by the chain itself.
Once operated by DanBarry Cinemas.
50sSNIPES like on 85% of his comments is wrong once again. Not sure why they let him leave comments. Danbarry was founded in 1989 after buying Middletown Cinemas , then 6 screens and later expanded to 10. Danbarry did build a 10 screen theatre in Chillicothe before the chain closed during the pandemic. Along with Chillicothe 10, Danbarry Dollar Savers 12, South Dayton and Huber Heights. The Chillicothe 10 was sold to owners of Silver Screen VII and Tri-City 4. Danbarry allowed the new owner to still use the Danbarry name. The Chillicothe Cinema 6 was from the 1990s into early 2000s was operated by Regal Cinemas before being closed. After being closed for several yeas the theatre was taken over by failed start up chain The Bargain Box Office. The Bargain Box Office took this theatre shortly after reopening the Beaver Valley Cinemas as The Bargain Box Office. The chain failed horribly. The Beavercreek location made head lines when the general has done some drugs and kicked in a neighbor’s door, thinking it was his. He got naked and got into bed. He was arrested and the news did the story in front of the theatre. The Bargain Box Office then removed the seats from two theatres it Chillicothe and put a mini golf set-up in. They did not tell the landlord and were sued. While that was pending the Bargain Box Office was evicted by both landlords of the theatres for back rent. And that was the end of the chain. 50sSNIPES PLEASE I BEG YOU FACT CHECK BEFORE POSTING.
