Most likely the same. So it was triplexed at a later date. Status would change to open and from one screen to three screens.

The number is disconnected and mail is returned as not deliverable as addressed when sent to the above address. I’m guessing they aren’t open for business.

I’m not sure when, but this theatre has been demolished to make way for a wellness center parking lot.

Theater name should be Chalet Triple with AKAs of Chalet Twin and Chalet Theater. Schneider-Merl sold out to Martin Theatres in 1976, so the Chalet Theater most likely opened in the early 1970s. The Chalet Triple was most likely closed in the mid-to-late 1990s as a result of competition from Litchfield’s New Market 7 (now Regal Boone Cinema 7) which opened in 1990. The Appalachian Twin was Carmike’s last theater in Boone; it survived because it was a discount cinema in a college town.

The May 31, 1971 issue of Boxoffice had two brief articles about three projects planned by the rapidly expanding Schneider-Merl chain. They were twin houses at Boone and Durham, and a single-screener in Roanoke Rapids. All three projects were designed by Statesville architect Tom Hutchins. The groundbreaking for the Boone twin was scheduled for June 1.
