I was only in this theatre once as a young boy. It was opened on March 3, 1923 with Barbara La Marr in “Poor Men’s Wives”. It was equipped with a theatre organ (make unknown) which was opened by organist Herbert T. Sprague. It was owned and run by Louis Santikos, whose son, John owns Santikos Theatres in San Antonio.
The theatre was known for having an arcade that ran from Alamo Plaza to Losoya Street behind. The theatre was set off the arcade. The theatre was later bought by Interstate Theatres Inc. circuit in the 1930’s. By 1950 it was operated by Claude Ezell and Associates Inc. and closed about 1955, and converted into an office building across from the Alamo.
Back in the 1980’s there was renovation on the Plaza and the arcade was rediscovered, but I don’t believe it was restored. I have some old pictures of the theatre on my web site, click below.

Is there a link to the website mentioned at the end of the Overview? Famed photographer Russell Lee took a series of photos in 1939 in the market area of San Antonio. Some have a theatre, and what may be the arcade mentioned in the Overview.
