My father, Gereon Lesser managed the Granada Theatre in the early 1960’s. I remember going to the Saturday matinees with my siblings and friends. The one movie I remember seeing more than any of the others while my dad managed the Granada was the “Lord of the Flies”. Then after the movie we would go next door to the Cooney Island for hot dogs. Great memories. I have to look through my photo collection because I think I actually have a photo of the Granada that I can post from the early 1970’s when it was still a theater.
1981 photo added credit Gary Androsky.
Opened December 12th, 1930 and closed in January 1980.
