Here’s an update for the overview:
The ABC’s final night of operation was on September 25, 1983 with “Cujo” and “Nightmare” on Screen 1 and “Staying Alive” and “Grease” on Screen 2
Historic Aerials showed that it essentially sat empty, still looking like a drive in minus the buildings and screen from the time it closed until development started in 2012. Someone was cutting the grass there for 30 years.
The site is now occupied by a new housing development called Villas of Economy
Approx. address for this drive-in would be 1330 W. State St.
IN 1956 THE ABC THEATRE PARKED 750 CARS MAKING IT A RATHER LARGE DRIVE IN. IT WAS OWNED IN THE 50’S LATE BY CO-OP CIRCUIT. I NEVER KNEW GCC RAN DRIVE INS , BUT I GUESS THAT WAS A NORTHERN THING.
The ABC, from opening to about the late 1960s was operated by General Drive-In/General Cinema Corp.
